Sick Building Syndrome

The term “Sick Building Syndrome” (SBS) is used to describe situations in which building occupants experience acute health and comfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a building, but no specific illness or cause can be identified. Common complaints are due to mold odors, headaches, sinus problems, and/or congestion. Occupants feeling ill inside dwelling but feel fine outside can be due to mold, dust, mildew or water intrusion.

RJF Environmental Consulting Services will conduct a mold-building investigation to identify and solve indoor air quality complaints in a way that prevents them from recurring and avoids the creation of other problems. To achieve this goal, RJF Environmental will identify the cause of the complaint, and determine the most appropriate corrective actions. Those who suffer from allergies, asthma or other respiratory ailments, especially children and the elderly, are vulnerable to the effects of indoor air pollution or “sick building syndrome”. Conversely, many occupants complain about “sick building syndrome” and our Sick Building Syndrome Tests can prove that there are no problems with the quality of the indoor air.
